If we had to pick one item we feel most rooms can’t live without, we would have to unanimously say it’s an area rug. They add texture, warmth, and help ground and connect items within the space. Additionally, they often time can serve as the jumping off point for the style or vibe of the room. There are so many great resources available online for area rugs, but we especially love RUGS USA for their broad selection, exceptional price points, and excellent customer service!

SUBTLE COLOR AND MUTED TONES
We aren’t afraid of color, but we also appreciate the subtlety of muted tones. That’s one reason why we love the Florid Dreams Area Rug in Silver. While we haven’t yet used this in a client’s space, we can definitely envision how it would perfectly accent a dark, moody wall, leather, and warm woods.
IVORY AND GRAY TRIBAL DESIGN
Looking for a rug with soft texture, interesting pattern, but subtle impact? Look no further! The Gray Banded Abacus And Stripes Area Rug is another one of our faves. We recently used this piece in a home where the client wanted a modern farmhouse aesthetic. We layered in lots of other light neutrals, gray, and blue, and loved the final result!
TRADITIONAL TRIBAL MEDALLION
If this one looks familiar, it’s because the Edessa Dark Blue Tribal Medallion Area Rug is one of our absolute faves! We love the pattern and tassel end details, and in an array of colors, this rug is the perfect statement piece. When we updated this master bedroom, we used this dark blue rug as our foundation, and accented with more neutral pieces. We also love it in the silver for a more neutral option!
TEXTURAL GEOMETIC
This gorgeous piece is the perfect blend of texture and pattern. While we haven’t yet incorporated it into a client’s space, we know the Beige Argyle Trellis Area Rug will definitely be on our LOVE list and find a way into a home soon. DISTRESSED AND FEMININE
When we refreshed our client’s dark and dated office space into a bright and airy feminine workplace, we knew the Bosphorus Ivory Floral Ornament Area Rug would have to be at the top of our list. The soft and distressed ornamental pattern grounded her space so beautifully, and added just the right amount of visual interest to an otherwise understated and elegant space.
COLORFUL AND ORNAMENTAL
If you want to go bold and colorful, this Navy and Green Mesopotamia Area Rug is the way to go. A statement rug for sure, we love this piece and how it can dramatically add visual interest, yet is still neutral enough to not overwhelm. You can see from our vision board below, we kept other accents light and bright, and let the rug steal the show.
TIPS FOR CHOOSING A RUG ONLINE
We’ve heard it over and over from clients, the endless stories about purchasing a rug online, only to have it deliver and be not what they had envisioned. While we love being able to see, touch, and feel items, we want to empower you to know how to make the best online selections.
Start by deciding on the feel of the space. Is color and pattern important to you, or are you looking for subtle texture and a neutral accent? Sort your search by color and style to help eliminate obvious non-contenders. When you find options you like, be sure to do both of these things: read reviews, dive into descriptions, and look at the detail shots.
Reviews will tell you a lot about the quality of the rug, and often times provide more accurate pictures related to coloration and pattern than the online stock images. In our experience, sometimes coloration is most often the hardest thing for the item pictures to represent. While we feel RUGS USA does a great job with their item images, it never hurts to see customer photos!
The detail shots help you visualize the intricacies of each piece as well. You can’t tell texture, pile height, or variations in color as well without the up close views. Additionally, the descriptions will provide insight into materials, rug thicknesses, and care instructions.
Worst case, if you still order a rug and it isn’t the perfect fit for your space, RUGS USA has a 30 day return policy! We love their customer service, and have found them to be an excellent resource for clients who are looking to purchase a beautiful rug at an affordable price!
